Today is February 11th, the day of the big reveal. I have been secretly and feverishly working on an iOS application since the beginning of the semester. After two long weeks, I have finally completed the app.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been wanting to make an iOS app for a while now and kept coming back to the idea. After speaking with a friend who is employed as a programmer, he advised me to just “dive in”, so I did!<\/p>\n

\"iOS<\/a>As I prepare to graduate, I look to my future employment opportunities. It is always helpful to use sites such as LinkedIn<\/a> and Glass Door<\/a> for potential jobs. While I am not yet ready to apply for these jobs, I always find it helpful to make sure I have obtained all of the necessary job requirements while in college.<\/p>\n

From Glass Doors, I looked up the job requirements for an iOS developer and found a company called Meetup. Meetup is a social networking\/social media site that was created with the intention of getting groups organized. This site is used by various groups from political organizations to kayaking clubs use this platform for their events.<\/p>\n

A quick look at their job posting shows the following requirements:<\/p>\n

\"iOS<\/a>Requirements:
\n\u2022 A love of what you do
\n\u2022 The idea of helping grow local community worldwide thrills you
\n\u2022 Demonstrated experience in engineering for iOS devices
\n\u2022 Core Data experience a plus
\n\u2022 Experience interacting with web APIs\/Formal CS Degree a plus<\/p>\n

In fulfilling my promise to myself to work hard in becoming employable, I have submitted my first iOS application to the app store while I was writing this blog.\u00a0 By the time this blog post goes up, I may have a response from Apple on whether or not my app has been accepted to their application store. I implore all of you to do field research on your planned career BEFORE graduation, in order to help make yourself as employable as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
